Since its release earlier this year Estee Lauder's Little Black Primer has received its fair share of love in the beauty world and, after trying it out for a few months, we're going to share our thoughts with you.
The idea behind Little Black Primer is one product that can tint, amplify and set your lashes. There are three ways of wearing it: by itself on bare lashes for a natural look, underneath mascara as a primer and on top of mascara to set it. I personally love wearing it all three ways but I like the effect the best when I put it over my mascara. It's so useful as it sets your mascara so you know you won't have to top up during the day and even adds a bit of water resistance to your lashes. This is my favourite part as I have so many mascaras I love that aren't waterproof but with a layer of this over the top I know I won't get black streaks down my face if a spring shower decides to surprise us. When worn by itself it creates a softer, more natural look for those no-makeup-makeup days. Underneath lashes it does exactly what it's meant to do but I wouldn't recommend wearing it if you know the mascara you're going to put on is prone to clumping as it doesn't really help this.
I love the spoolie as it is a great shape for coating all your lashes in one sweep and distributes the product fairly evenly. The packaging is also, in my opinion, really rather beautiful; simple and elegant, something you'd expect from a high end brand.
Little Black Primer is quite pricey at £20 but definitely not as expensive as other products out there. I have to say, I actually bought this with my Boots points that had been accumulating so that might be something to keep in mind if you like the sound of this but don't really want to splash out £20.
Overall, Estee Lauder's Little Black Primer is a great product. I wouldn't call it a must-have but it is certainly useful luxury to have in your make up stash!
Be sure to check back next week for a review of the much raved about Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvets.
