What have you been loving? Any recommendations?
Stay beautiful x As you can imagine this was the hardest post to write as we had to choose a select few products from our rather large, and continually growing, collections. In the end we chose three products each and then three products that we've both been enjoying this month. This month I discovered the Yes to skincare range after Anna mentioned the Yes to Cucumber Eye Gel in one of her videos. When I was next in Boots I just had to pick it up and whilst I was there I also picked up the Yes to Cucumber Soothing Facial Wipes. The Yes to Cucumber range is all about soothing, calming and cleansing the skin and gosh, its good at it. I love the facial wipes as they also remove make up and feel so nice in the evening. The eye gel is also great as it reduces puffiness and soothes the eye area so I try and use it in the morning and the evening. I've had the Urban Decay Naked2 Palette for a while now but this is the first year that I've properly started using it. I love the shade range as they are all colours I reach for when applying eye shadow. The brush that comes with the palette is also great as one end gets the colour onto the eyelid efficiently and the other end blends it perfectly. I didn't pay £37 for it as it was a present but I do think it's worth splashing out on. Another thing I have fallen in love with this autumn is Rimmel's new lip release Provocalips. I've already written about this lipgloss a couple of weeks ago in 'Our Autumnal Lip Favourites' but since then I've picked up another shade - Skinny Dipping. This is a nude colour and very contrasting to Kiss Fatal (the other shade I own) but it still stays on for as long and has the same impact. I finally settled on this colour out of all the shades as I thought it would be wearable for more casual days and could also be worn more in the summer when that comes around again. My first pick this month is kind of nostalgic for me. My L'Oreal Superliner Gelmatic. It was the first 'proper' eyeliner I bought and I can still remember after buying it, leaning over the basin in my friends bathroom looking in the mirror, trying to get it in a vaguely straight line when I was supposed to be leaving to go home. The memories make me smile! I did eventually find the way to apply it, but didn't get much opportunity as I had been firmly told no eyeliner at school. Although this is now the regular liner in my routine. I use it pretty much everyday when I'm at school, I just run through my lash-line to give a bit of fullness to my lashes. I have just repurchased this - that's how much I love it! My next choice is the Seventeen BB cream. I bought this mainly to wear at the weekends, as I think less is more when it comes to school but I was impressed. I've had a few tinted moisturisers over the years (and have recently purchased a new one which I'm sure will be appearing soon) but this is quite different. I expected just a bit more of a higher-coverage version of the classic tinted moisturiser but was pleasantly surprised. It's quite a lot thicker - more of a foundation consistency - but it had a good coverage (not too much to make you look caked, but enough to hide the redness). My only complaint would be the shade. I got 'light' which is the lightest available and I have to say you have to go sparingly or you may look a bit over-tanned if you have fair skin. Finally, my last pick is not a make-up item, or item at all actually, but a skincare brand. I thought Simple really deserved a mention this month; they have done wonders. Firstly the Revitalising Eye Roll-On. This really does revistalise my eyes. Now I haven't had this long - 5 days I think - but my eyes are loving it. Its refreshing and reduces redness and it provides a great base for your under-eye concealer. Then there's their Spotless Skin range. I've had the Triple Action Face Wash for a while now and its amazing for any time of day or night at cleansing and calming your skin. But then there's the real hero of the lot - the Rapid Action Spot Zapper. Oh the spot zapper - I love it! I've only had this for 5 days too, but I can already feel and see a difference in my skin. It's a lot less irritable (this could also be to do with my plan to stick to the same/similar products) and my breakouts have calmed considerably. I will update you on this in the future and let you know how it's doing. (Another added bonus from Simple is the packaging. I love green so it appeals and it's also very informative at first glance.) Now for our joint monthly favourites. We both own these and have either recommended them to each other or shared reviews from others. First up is the Collection Does It All waterproof mascara. We both picked this up the other day in Superdrug on the 3 for 2 on all cosmetics. We both had waterproof mascara at the top of our lists as we are entering the colder, dingier months, meaning foreseeable rain (we are in Britain after all) so this one fitted the bill perfectly. It creates length and volume (just like it promises) and so far it is holding up on the waterproof front as well! Next is the Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer. Now we are aware that we did a post dedicated to the Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer not too long ago (read here), but this is up there among the best. It's not a highlighter like the other one, but it is amazing at concealing spots and blemishes. If we want to go all out for the flawless look, this blended on blemishes and the Rimmel Match Perfection under-eyes would be the best combination. It's brightening but such a good colour match (we have pretty similar skin tones, so we both went for 010 ivory) and has pretty high-coverage. A lot of people rave about this, and we might just go join them! Saved the best 'till last - that's what we've done! Our final product is the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water. This is a two-in-one makeup remover and cleanser and it certainly does what it says on the tin (well, bottle, but just imagine it). It is so effective and efficient. If your wearing a lot of makeup or foundation that sits in your pores, you may want to cleanse as well, but for a swipe around your face before heading to bed, it's worth the 2-in-1! It's also fragrance free which is a bonus - I feel - but it leaves you feeling thoroughly cleansed at night and refreshed in the morning before your long day ahead. That's our picks for October. The list could go on but we had to stop somewhere!
Watch out for the final installment of our October Favourites, 'eats', which will be up soon. Stay beautiful x |
